Manchester United have confirmed that two of their brightest young talents, Harry Amass and Ethan Ennis, will spend the season on loan to gain first-team experience.

Amass Heads to Sheffield Wednesday

Highly rated left-back Harry Amass has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan in the Championship. The 18-year-old, who made his senior debut for United on his birthday in May, quickly established himself as one of the most exciting academy prospects at the club.
Amass capped off a stellar year by winning the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award and featuring prominently for both United’s U18s and U21s, where he helped the younger side lift three trophies, including the U18 Premier League title.
He was also included in the squad for last summer’s senior preseason tour.
Having joined United from Watford in 2023, Amass is now expected to take the next step in his development with regular senior minutes at Hillsborough, as United’s coaching staff monitor his progress closely.

Ennis Joins Fleetwood Town

Meanwhile, forward Ethan Ennis will link up with Fleetwood Town in League One.
The 20-year-old began this season brightly for United’s U21s, scoring twice in as many matches, and his performances earned him another loan opportunity, reported ManUtd.com.
Ennis gained valuable experience last term during a spell at Doncaster Rovers, where he played a role in their successful push for promotion from League Two.
Since joining United from Liverpool in 2021, he has impressed at youth level, notably as part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in his first season. He also featured in United’s preseason programme last summer, giving him a taste of first-team football.
A move to Fleetwood offers Ennis the chance to continue that progression, with regular senior football key to maintaining his momentum and sharpening his attacking instincts.

Pathway to First Team

Both loan switches underline United’s strategy of ensuring promising academy graduates gain competitive experience in senior football environments.
With Amass looking to test himself in the Championship and Ennis eager to prove his goalscoring ability in League One, the club hopes both players will return to Old Trafford stronger and closer to first-team readiness.
