Manchester United's new signing Cristian Orozco says that he knows with his "strength and technique" he can become a key player for the
club.
The 17-year-old Colombian travelled to Manchester for a medical on Sunday ahead of his signing being announced by United.
The basis of a contract was agreed with Colombian side Fortaleza midfielder last September, but he couldn’t register him until he reached 18 - which he will do next month.
He is understood to have flown to Manchester with chief scout Giuseppe Antonaccio to conduct his medical.
The Colombian has been compared to Moises Caicedo and will initially join United in the Under-21s.
Orozco says it is a dream for him to move to
United with his ambition as well as ability being the driving force behind his mediatic rise.
"My goal from now on is to learn a lot of English. I've realized how important it is, and I want to arrive, learn, and adapt as quickly as possible," he told local media.
"That's what's required to demonstrate my level there, what I'm capable of. I know that with my abilities, my strength, and my technique, I can be a key player. I'm very young and I need to adapt.
"I want to get there, learn, adapt as quickly as possible, and that's what's required to demonstrate my level there, so they can see what I can do."
Orozco comes from the city of Valledupar in the north of Colombia not far from the border with Venezuela. It will be a dramatic change for the youngster with Valledupar known for its folk music, stunning scenery and hot weather.
"I started playing at the age of five at a club in Valledupar called De Pies a Cabeza, and I spent my childhood there until I was 13, when I joined the Under-13 regional team," says Orozco.
"I impressed Rojo, where I stayed for three and a half years before joining Fortaleza."
He was captain of Colombia's side at the U17 World Cup last year and that was were he was spotted by United.
"My agent told me during the semifinals that Manchester United was watching me, that they liked me a lot, and that when I got to Medellín I would have an offer," said Orozco. "Thank God things worked out."
After agreeing to a pre-contract with United he already visited Manchester last year before focusing on playing for Fortaleza for the remainder of last season.
On his visit to Manchester he said: "It went really well, I was seeing the city, everything was great. I got to see the facilities, the stadium, and I'm fulfilling a childhood dream. It was amazing."
While in Manchester he took in United's 1-1 draw with West Ham on December 4 last year and also had a training session with the youth team.
On his contract he said it would be for five years when he can sign it in July.
