Man Utd transfer latest: Tchouameni's cut price Real Madrid teammate offering more creativity

Manchester United have been told Aurelien Tchouameni is not for sale but they should focus instead on a Real Madrid teammate.

There has been plenty of media talk that French international Tchouameni could leave the Bernabeu for the right price.

But new coach Jose Mourinho has no wish to sell him and sees him as a key player in his rebuilding.

On top of this Tchouameni has a high salary and United would have to break the bank to try and lure him away.

Madrid are also one of the teams which are looking at another target Mateus Fernandes but it is unlikely they would compete at £80 million for him.

Similarly Mourinho is keen on bringing in Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez but they have also been put off by the hefty asking price.

But a Madrid player that United would get a lot cheaper than Tchouameni and who is available is Eduardo Camavinga.

He is coming off a difficult campaign but United could get him for under £50 million and he is still only 23.

Camavinga is a technically strong midfielder with plenty of talent who lost his way with some erratic displays last season.

He is an athletic player who could come in at United and provide solidity in midfield while at the same time he has the quality to build play from the back.

Camavinga offers more creativity than Tchouameni and more mobile who can drive the team forward as an old fashioned 'box-to-box' player.

Former Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said of Camavinga: "Physically he has the engine of a Ferrari.... Technically he has nothing to learn and tactically he just needs to gain experience."

While Luka Modric stated of his teammate at the time at the Bernabeu: "Eduardo has a brilliant future ahead. His energy gives us a lot in midfield, he has an amazing ability to get forward with the ball."

United are expected to confirm the signing of Ederson next month and Camavinga would offer a superior technique.

Meanwhile, the only realistic chance that United could get Tchouameni would be if Mateus Fernandez went to Madrid and then they would open the possibility of a sale so that they could finance it.

Another player that United have watched at the Bernabeu is Fede Valverde but Mourinho is also keen for him to stay.
