Man Utd target Ederson
Manchester United have splashed out £39 million on highly-rated Brazilian Ederson and this is how he will fit into Michael Carrick's midfield.
Ederson has spent the last three seasons building himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable, engine-room midfielders at Atalanta.
He has was heavily linked to United and other clubs last summer before a deal has been finally agreed.
While players like Sandro Tonali have been moving for fees up to £100million, Ederson was considerably cheaper in a useful piece of business.

How Ederson will fit in at United

Ederson has been brought in to fill the boots of the outgoing Casemiro and play a defensive role in midfield.
Carrick aims for Ederson to be the foil for Mainoo who thrives on being given a licence to get between the lines and link up with the attacking players.
Ederson's role will be to win possession and make quick transitions from the back.
Carrick's tactical system relies heavily on moving the ball quickly and direct counter-attacks.
Éderson excels at winning second balls with his physical strength and quick movement.
The aim will be for him to quickly move on possession to Mainoo or Bruno Fernandes to launch attacks.

Ederson vs Casemiro

Casemiro had a superb second half to last season where he thrived in the defensive role given by Carrick but he also got forward with crucial goals as United claimed third place in the Premier League.
There is no doubt he will be badly missed and it will not be an easy act to follow for Ederson.
On the positive, Ederson is likely to provide greater work-rate than Casemiro and he will be able to cover more ground than the former Real Madrid veteran.
Over the last few seasons United have been lacking a real engine in the midfield which Ederson can provide.
But on the downside, Ederson won't offer the same polish as Casemiro and he has not shown the same technical qualities as the multiple Champions League winner.
Casemiro is better on the ball and can score key goals, but while always advantage, Ederson has not specifically been bought to do that, his role will be to break up play and move the ball on quickly.
