Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has launched a furious and comprehensive attack on the club following the 3-1 defeat to Brentford saying he no longer has faith in it.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show podcast, he criticised the players, manager Ruben Amorim, and the state of the club’s culture.

No Faith in Amorim and Scathing Criticism of Players

Rooney did not mince words about the current on-field performance, which has seen United lose three of their opening six Premier League games.
The defeat at Brentford means manager Ruben Amorim has still not managed to win back-to-back league games in his 10 months in charge.
"What is going on at Man Utd? This is not Man Utd. I don't recognise the whole football club," Rooney began.
He went on to blast the current squad's attitude: "I don't see players fighting, I don't see character, I don't see desire to win. I don't see ability, I don't see match-winners, nothing gets me off my feet."
Addressing the pressure on Amorim, Rooney acknowledged his own managerial struggles but admitted he has lost confidence in the current boss.
"Ruben Amorim is my age, he is still a young manager and I'm sure he still has a massive future, but what's going on at Man Utd, this is not Man Utd," he said.
"I honestly hope he can turn it around and he does. But if you're saying to me, 'Do you believe he will?', then, after everything I've seen, honestly, I've got no faith in it."
Rooney stressed that the issues are not solely down to the manager, stating: "I'm seeing players not deserving to wear that shirt, and it hurts."

The Loss of Culture and Soul

The former United captain was equally vocal about the problems behind the scenes, claiming the entire culture of the club has been decimated.
"The culture of that football club has gone. I see it on a daily basis. I see staff losing jobs, people walking out of jobs."
He even admitted his own personal worry, as both his children are currently in the club's academy system.
"I've got two kids at that football club and I really hope this doesn't affect what they're doing. What I'm seeing at that football club is not Manchester United. The soul has gone from the club," he said.

Plea to Ownership

Rooney called for a clear message and decisive action from the club's hierarchy, which includes the Glazers and minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
"There needs to be a clear message from the owners... there has to be a message of where this club is going. Because at the minute, we're all sitting there waiting for it to crumble," he said.
He concluded by demanding significant change to kickstart the club's revival: "It needs a new engine, a new lease of life... There needs to be big changes in my opinion. Manager, players, whatever that is. Whatever it takes to get Manchester United back."
