Ruben Amorim says that
Marcus Rashford is right in that he needs a "new challenge" but thinks that can be at
Manchester United.
He insisted that
Rashford remains a key part of his plans, despite leaving him out of the squad for the derby with Manchester City.
Rashford's future at Old Trafford has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks.
The England international has struggled for form this season and has reportedly clashed with the club's management over disciplinary issues.
And then on Tuesday he said that maybe the
right option was to seek a "new challenge" and he didn't want the situation to end badly at United.
When asked about Rashford's comments, Amorim said: "I think he's right. We have here a new challenge and it's a tough one, it's the biggest challenge in football because we are in a difficult situation.
"This is really a new challenge. I hope all my players are ready for this new challenge."
"Have I spoken to Marcus Rashford? Not yet, It was yesterday, I gave them a day off," he added.
"I just want to win and to help the team be better, so we are better with Marcus Rashford, and that's simple, we try different things to push Marcus to be at his best level that he's shown in the past."
Amorim also emphasized the importance of a positive team environment and the need for all players to be fully committed to the cause.
He stated, "This kind of club needs big talent and he is a big talent so we just need him to perform at the highest level and that is my focus. I just want to help Marcus."
Despite Rashford's recent struggles, Amorim remains optimistic about the forward's potential.
The Portuguese manager believes that with the right guidance and support, Rashford can rediscover his best form.
However, the 27-year-old's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. With the January transfer window approaching, it's possible that Rashford could be tempted by a move elsewhere, especially if he continues to struggle for playing time.
For now, though, Amorim is focused on the immediate future and is determined to get the best out of his squad.
With a busy schedule ahead, including a crucial Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, the Portuguese manager will need to make some tough decisions regarding team selection.
Whether Rashford will be part of those plans remains to be seen. According to recent reports, Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is experiencing difficulty finding a buyer for Rashford.
This struggle largely stems from Rashford's high wage demands and apparent lack of interest from other football teams.
