Ruben Amorim denies that the Manchester United players are struggling with a mental block as they try to move up the table.
The team has squandered golden opportunities to seize the initiative in the Premier League while rivals have dropped points.
They lost at home to ten-man Everton and then on Thursday they could only draw against West Ham at Old Trafford despite dominating the match.
"It's not a mental thing I think, they are not thinking maybe we are going into the top five. It's that sometimes we play good, some times we are playing bad and we are not getting the results," said Amorim.

Team news

Matheus Cunha was back in action on Thursday night after missing the games against Everton and Crystal Palace due to injury.
Cunha, who scored 33 goals in 92 appearances for Monday’s hosts, will play at his old ground for the first time since his transfer was completed in June.
Player of the Month Matthijs De Ligt was absent for the game against West Ham, but Amorim has hinted that he will be good to go against Wolves, while Diogo Dalot, who left the pitch shortly after scoring against the Hammers, should also be available for selection.
Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire have missed the last few games and there has been no update on the pair ahead of this fixture.

Wolves news

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards will be without key midfielder Joao Gomes, through suspension, while Marshall Munetsi has suffered a calf problem. Daniel Bentley, Leon Chiwome, Rodrigo Gomes, Ladislav Krejcl and Fernando Lopez are set to remain sidelined.
Amorim’s side ended November strongly, with the 2-1 win at Palace following the surprise home defeat against 10-men Everton.
We’re now unbeaten in four games on the road, as draws at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur before that trip to London followed October’s memorable victory over Liverpool.
Wolves sit bottom, on two points, and are still looking for their first win of the season.
Rob Edwards, who replaced Vitor Pereira at the helm a few weeks ago, has lost each of his first three games in charge, and Nottingham Forest became the latest side to escape from Molineux with all three points during the week.
