Ruben Amorim dropped
Marcus Rashford from the squad after being told the striker had been out in Manchester before the Everton match.
The Manchester United striker reportedly broke the rules preventing him from going out less than 48 hours before a game.
According to The Athletic,
Amorim confronted Rashford about the alleged late night, which sources close to the player have denied occurred.
Despite Rashford scoring twice in United's 4-0 victory over Everton, he was subsequently excluded from the starting lineup for the following match against Arsenal and has since been largely sidelined.
Rashford, who has only started one game—a Europa League clash with Viktoria Plzen—since the Everton game, maintains that Amorim was misinformed about the incident.
He has made substitute appearances against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest but remains on the fringes under the new Portuguese manager.
Amorim has a strict policy against players frequenting bars so close to matches and has publicly stated that Rashford's situation is largely self-inflicted.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim said: “It depends more on him than me. He has to want it really, really bad. He’s here. He’s ready to play if I decide.”
The United boss reportedly discussed Rashford's situation with INEOS executives following United’s derby win over Manchester City, and he has their full backing regarding his handling of the player.
Discussions about Rashford’s future at the club are anticipated soon, especially after the forward expressed his desire for a "new challenge."
However, finding a suitable transfer may be complicated unless United agrees to subsidize his significant £325,000-a-week wages.
Rashford has already declined offers from the Saudi Pro League, aiming to revive his England career under new manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Napoli has been suggested as a potential destination, with rumors of a swap deal involving Victor Osimhen. However, the Italian side may struggle to match Rashford’s current salary, making the move uncertain.
