Marcus Rashford has found his scoring boots once again, netting three goals in his last two Premier League outings under new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
But according to club legend Andy Cole, the England international needs to sustain this form for the rest of the season to truly win back the love and support of the Old Trafford faithful.
Cole weighed in on Amorim’s promising start at United, the club’s upcoming fixtures against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest, and the persistent transfer rumours linking Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies and Lille’s Angel Gomes to the club.

Amorim’s strong start

With three games under his belt, Ruben Amorim has already made a positive impression at United.
"He’s done alright, hasn’t he?" said Cole. "A couple of wins and a draw, and if you include Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim spell, the team has been unbeaten in seven matches."
Cole praised Amorim’s confidence and communication style, describing it as fitting for the demands of managing Manchester United.
"His mannerisms have impressed me most. He knows it’s a big job and speaks with authority and confidence. That’s exactly what you need at United," he said.

Rashford: consistency key

Despite his recent heroics, Cole believes Rashford still has work to do. "We’ve seen Marcus do this before—score goals in bursts—and then revert to inconsistent form," he said.
"For him to get the fans back onside, he needs to keep this up until the end of the season."
Rashford's goals against Ipswich and Everton have given glimpses of his potential, but the reaction from fans remains cautious. "Consistency and hard work will be key," added Cole. "This manager will put him under pressure to deliver week in, week out."

Arsenal test looms large

United face a formidable challenge on Wednesday as they travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal. Cole acknowledged the difficulty of the fixture but remained optimistic.
He said: "Arsenal are defensively solid and strong at home, but it’s going to be a tough game for them as well. Amorim has shown he knows how to exploit weaknesses, so it should be a good contest."

Transfer rumours: Davies and Gomes

Cole also shared his thoughts on the club’s reported interest in Alphonso Davies and Angel Gomes.
"On a free transfer, Alphonso Davies would be perfect for any top team, including Manchester United. He’s a quality player who’d fit Amorim’s system well," he said.
As for Gomes, Cole admitted he was disappointed to see the youngster leave the club initially but expressed excitement about a potential return. "He’s proven himself in France, and if he comes back, he’ll undoubtedly make United stronger," he added.

Cole’s take on Premier League contenders

Cole also touched on Newcastle United’s struggles with consistency and the broader Premier League landscape.
He praised Liverpool’s incredible form but noted Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous adage that "the league starts at Easter".
"Liverpool are in a great position, but we’re not even at Christmas yet. Arsenal and Manchester City will be pushing, so it’s all to play for," he said.
