Aston Villa have inquired about a loan deal for
Manchester United forward
Marcus Rashford, following the sale of Jhon Duran to Al Nassr.
Unai Emery’s side are considering a move for the 27-year-old, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio and Chelsea’s Joao Felix also on their radar, as confirmed by Villa’s president of football operations, Monchi.
Rashford’s Uncertain Future at United
It has now been seven weeks since
Rashford last played for his boyhood club, featuring in United’s Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen.
With just days remaining until the Monday 11pm transfer deadline, he remains out of favor at Old Trafford.
Last month, Rashford publicly expressed his desire for a "new challenge", but finding a suitable destination has proven difficult, largely due to his high wages.
Despite training with his teammates, Rashford was omitted from United’s 21-man squad for Thursday’s Europa League victory against FCSB.
His strained relationship with United manager Ruben Amorim has fueled further speculation about his departure.
Barcelona Remains Rashford’s Preferred Destination
While Rashford’s preference is a move to Barcelona, the La Liga giants have yet to take formal steps toward signing him.
Financial constraints—including contract renewals and an already stretched wage bill—have prevented them from making a concrete offer.
Fringe players like Ansu Fati and Andreas Christensen have also refused to leave, further complicating Barcelona’s ability to create salary space.
Sources in Spain suggest Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to facilitate a move, but no agreement has been reached.
Interest from Germany and Turkey
Borussia Dortmund previously inquired about the conditions of a loan deal, but the financial demands make a transfer to the Bundesliga club unlikely.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilicali has denied reports linking Rashford to the Turkish club, confirming to Sky Sports News that they are not interested in signing him.
Amorim’s Stance on Rashford
United boss Ruben Amorim has taken a tough stance, suggesting last weekend that he would rather have his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach in the squad than Rashford.
Reports this week have even suggested that the pair are no longer on speaking terms.
However, Amorim has left the door open for Rashford to fight his way back into the team, stating that "United are a better team with Rashford", but that the forward must "change" before he can regain his place in the squad.
