Patrick Dorgu may have to wait until mid-February to make his Premier League debut for Manchester United.
The 20-year-old is set to become Ruben Amorim’s first signing at the club, with United closing in on a £30 million deal with Lecce for the left wing-back.
Although initial reports suggested Dorgu would undergo a medical earlier this week, it now appears that he will arrive in England on Saturday to finalize his transfer over the weekend.
This slight delay means he is unlikely to be registered in time for United’s match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Premier League clubs must register new signings by midday on the day before a match.
For United, that deadline falls on Saturday at noon, and with Dorgu reportedly set to fly in that same day, it seems unlikely that the process will be completed in time.

FA Cup debut likely before Premier League bow

As a result, the Danish international is expected to make his debut in the FA Cup when United face Leicester City, managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, in the fourth round on Friday night.
This fixture could also see Dorgu share the pitch with several international teammates, including Jannik Vestergaard, Mads Hermansen, and Victor Kristiansen, while linking up with fellow Danes Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund in the United squad.
With the Premier League taking a break for the FA Cup, there will be a two-week gap between league matches, meaning Dorgu is likely to be officially registered as a United player during this period.
However, his first Premier League appearance is expected to come when United travel to Tottenham Hotspur on February 16.
His first two league games will be away from home, followed by a possible first and final appearance at Goodison Park against Everton.
Dorgu is then set to make his Old Trafford Premier League debut against Ipswich Town, United’s final match of February, just four days after their trip to Everton.
