Gary Neville says how much
Benjamin Sesko needed to score the winning goal as he had become a "bit part player".
Summer signing Sesko kept his cool when taking a touch and slamming home in front of the Stretford End, sparking bedlam and propelling United fourth in the Premier League with a
3-2 win over Fulham.
Earlier in the season under Ruben Amorim fans and pundits could see his confidence ebbing away as struggled in attack with a lack of service.
Parallels were made with Rasmus Hojlund who ended up being offloaded to Napoli on loan after last season's disappointing campaign.
When Darren Fletcher took over for two games following Amorim's sacking, Sesko immediately looked more involved and sharper, scoring a brace against Burnley.
But under Carrick, Sesko has been taken out of the spotlight and instead make an impact from the bench.
And he did it to great effect on Sunday, with Neville saying it was perfect for him to score.
"If you'd said you wanted one United player to score a goal, any United fan or coach, it would have been Sesko, because he has had a really difficult time since he has come to the club," said Neville.
"Cunha and Mbeumo just look like
Man Utd players straight away, the way they attack defenders.
"Amad has come back AFCON looking really strong and Bruno is in great form so you've got that front four which looks like it is established with Dorgu who I haven't even mentioned.
"So it looked like he (Sesko) was just playing a bit part role but that will be so big for Sesko to score a winning goal at the Stretford End and to come back the way they did which was so Manchester United like."
While Carrick after the game also said he was "delighted" for Sesko. "So, so pleased, everyone in the changing room, players and staff, absolutely delighted for him and the reception he had told us everything," Carrick told the press conference.
