Neville calls out 'massive mistake' from Man Utd player ahead of Everton's second goal

Gary Neville says there "was a massive mistake" in the build up to Everton's second goal against Manchester United.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a stoppage-time equaliser on his Everton debut to earn a 2-2 draw against United.

Benjamin Sesko’s 88th-minute header had appeared to put United on course for a late victory.

And afterwards Neville pointed to poor defending in the lead up to Maitland-Niles scoring.

"Manchester United are conceding two goals a game, from a United perspective that's it, you can't do that, they are on track to concede 76 goals a season, which they won't do, but they are on track," said Neville.

"There may be some people who may lazily say they were two spectacular goals (which they conceded) but that last one was a really bad one.

"It was a really bad one because they are on that far side, they know they have Jack Grealish down on the left.

"Dorgu for some reason chases out and presses, isolated press, Santos then. doesn't go over behind him and stays back and it just gets played past Dorgu, it is a massive mistake that.

"It was a massive mistake from Dorgu, but he may have been told to press by Santos but I don't think he will have done, it strikes me as a lack of communication."

Earlier in the game, Tyrique George’s strike had cancelled out a fine Bryan Mbeumo effort but then Sesko would not prove United’s match-winning substitute for the second time at Hill Dickinson Stadium this year.

Instead, deadline-day acquisition Maitland-Niles came off the bench to rifle home from distance.

Speaking afterwards Carrick told a press conference: "We are bitterly disappointed, to be up in the game twice so close to the end, and the work that went in to putting is in that position.

"It is not a great feeling. Feels like a defeat but we did take a point."
