Marcus Rashford was again left out of the
Man Utd squad away to Spurs and he has been told to keep his "mouth shut" by a pundit.
After missing the derby win over Manchester City with manager
Ruben Amorim leaving him out of the squad, he was again excluded from Thursday's Carabao Cup tie.
In between he spoke out saying that perhaps he needed a "new challenge" but did not want to leave United on bad terms.
And now Jamie Carragher says that Rashford should have stayed quiet after being left out of the United squad.
"I feel I have been talking about Marcus Rashford for the last week, and I have said before, he is not that good a player for the amount of time we talk about him," Carragher said.
"Wayne Rooney was, David Beckham was, Cristiano Ronaldo was."
He drew comparisons to past controversies at United, including Cristiano Ronaldo’s public criticism of Erik ten Hag.
"We had this situation a couple of years ago with Ronaldo when he came out and did an interview about Erik ten Hag.
"I am not for any player coming out and being critical of the club, you know my comments on Mo Salah.
"But for Rashford to do that, come out without the club having any knowledge and announce he has basically put in a transfer request or he wants to leave...
"It leaves the club in a really poor position in terms of negotiating his exit at some stage."
He said that Rashford’s actions were counterproductive if he wanted to remain at United or rebuild his career.
"If he really believes that he still wants to be a United player and he still wants a great career, you don’t come out with a statement like that," he said.
"You keep your mouth shut, you battle, and you hope you get a little chance."
Carragher’s remarks add to the growing scrutiny over Rashford’s future at United, with questions surrounding his place in Amorim’s plans moving forward.
