New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has already found a key problem with utilising Marcus Rashford as a central striker.
The Portuguese oversaw his first game at the helm of United in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on Sunday which started very promisingly and then many of the problems which were seen under Erik ten Hag came to light.
Amorim has had little time to work with his new players since moving from Sporting Lisbon where his success there bodes well for an improvement at Old Trafford but there is unlikely to be a quick fix.

Rashford's performance

Rashford netted the opening goal within the first two minutes at Portman Road but later Omari Hutchinson bagged a point for the Tractor Boys, losing Casemiro on the edge of the area and enjoying a slice of fortune as his shot clipped Mazraoui en-route to the top corner.
This was only Rashford's second goal in the Premier League this season, and a highlight amidst United's overall disappointing performance, with them only moving up to the 12th position in the standings.

Amorim's concerns

Amorim has highlighted his concerns about using Rashford centrally in attack, especially after the match against Ipswich.
In his post-match interview, Amorim stated: "We lost some balls, we played with Rashford up front and we lost some physicality, some ability to hold the ball."

Exploring new tactics

The manager appeared determined to find a solution, with a note of optimism shining through as he mentioned the big changes, and ongoing preparations for upcoming matches.
“So we are doing some things that were not at the right moment, so that is something we have to address," he said. “Sometimes people talk about the 3-4-3, that is not the concern, the system is the system but the understanding of the game is what we have to improve a lot in this area.”

Amorim's praise for Amad Diallo and Andre Onana

Amorim's continued his optimistic take on United's position by highlighting some of the performances against Ipswich. Amad Diallo, who was assigned as a right wing-back, was singled out for his defensive improvement, with Amorim saying: "He was so focused on everything. I think he did a great job."
Similarly, Amorim gave a pat on the back to goalkeeper Andre Onana, admitting that he "saved us two times at least" and was always communicating with his back four.
