Manchester United are preparing to offload Christian Eriksen to raise funds for Brazilian star Ederson.
A major squad overhaul is on the cards at Old Trafford, with new manager Ruben Amorim given the green light to reshape the team in his own image.
However, with limited funds available, the club will need to generate income through player sales and Eriksen could be on his way out.
Marcus Rashford is another who has been heavily linked with a move away, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and PSG all circling.
However, a summer sale is considered more likely at this stage for Rashford.
Instead, United are now targeting Eriksen for a January exit. The 32-year-old is in the final year of his contract, meaning this is the club's last chance to recoup a fee for the experienced midfielder.
While a significant transfer fee is unlikely, removing Eriksen's £150,000-a-week wages from the wage bill would provide a significant boost to the club's finances.
According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, "Manchester United would be willing to sell Christian Eriksen as early as the winter if a suitable offer comes in!"
Plettenberg subsequently confirmed United's interest in Ederson Silva, the talented Brazilian midfielder currently impressing at Atalanta.
The 25-year-old played a crucial role in Atalanta's Europa League triumph last season and has already earned two caps for Brazil.
However, United face stiff competition for Ederson's signature.
Manchester City, desperate to replace the injured Rodri, are also keen on the midfielder and are prepared to spend heavily in the January transfer window.
According to transfer insider Rudy Galetti, both Manchester clubs have already made contact with Ederson's representatives.
Atalanta are expected to demand a "monster" fee, with a €60 million (£50) valuation likely to be required to bring him in.
This January transfer window promises to be a crucial one for United.
With a squad overhaul on the horizon and a new manager looking to stamp his authority on the team, the club will be hoping to secure the signings of key targets while offloading players who no longer fit into their plans.
Head coach, Ruben Amorim, has reportedly approved another signing in Ederson, as he gears up to restructure his squad in 2025.
Following a promising start at Man Utd, a recent hiccup, in the form of two back-to-back Premier League defeats, has highlighted the need for strategic team improvements.
Despite securing a midweek victory against Viktoria Plzen, Amorim is conscious of the challenges lying ahead.
A crucial fixture against arch-rivals Man City looms, and the Red Devils have little margin for error as they target a Champions League place.
Consequently, Amorim is keen to bolster his squad with tactical signings in the upcoming January and summer transfer windows.

Left-Back Position a Priority

One of Amorim's priorities is the recruitment of a new left-back, with current players Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia struggling with recurring injuries.

Miguel Gutierrez: A potential 'blockbuster signing'

Rumours suggest that United have formulated an irresistible offer to sign Girona's left-back, Miguel Gutierrez.
The 23-year-old has demonstrated impressive form recently, prompting reports that Amorim has given United the go-ahead to secure this vital reinforcement.
Negotiations will be a delicate process, given Gutierrez's contract with Girona until 2025, and a release clause set at €35m (£29m).
