Marcus Rashford is facing a crisis at Manchester United, with reports suggesting that new manager Ruben Amorim has already run out of patience.
Following a mixed start to the season, United have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, leaving them languishing mid-table.
The pressure is mounting on Amorim, who is tasked with rebuilding the club after the departure of Erik ten Hag.
And it appears that Rashford is not immune to the scrutiny.
Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has launched a scathing attack on the forward, claiming that his "application stinks" and that he acts like he is "carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders."
Deeney wrote in his column for The Sun. "Everything is always everybody else's fault and his application stinks. He is still capable of moments.
"It wouldn't surprise me if he goes and scores the winner against Manchester City this weekend and then goes missing for the next few weeks.
"He knows he can live off these 'moments' and nothing more, and that isn't good enough."
Deeney went on to suggest that Amorim is already losing patience with Rashford.
"It is the same old cycle," he continued. "A new manager comes in and for three or four games you see a 'new Rashford' and then he slips back into his old ways and old form.
"He then begins to get dropped. We saw it on Thursday night, subbed off against Viktoria Plzen and already United boss Ruben Amorim looks fed up with him.
"Look, I’ve been there. It’s not nice when that is happening. As a striker you want to be left on to build some momentum, but I was at the Emirates when he came on against Arsenal last week. He was a disgrace."
Amorim himself has hinted at his frustrations, stating, "He will get full support but it is up to him as a player, a person."
Deeney believes this is a direct message to Rashford, who needs to take responsibility for his performances.
"Nobody wants Rashford to fail," Deeney added. "But if he keeps delivering these substandard performances then we will all keep on saying the same things."
With a squad overhaul expected in 2025, Rashford has been identified as a potential casualty.
The club is looking to raise funds through player sales, and the England international has been deemed the "obvious candidate" to be moved on.
This weekend's Manchester derby against City will be a crucial test for Rashford. Can he silence his critics and prove his worth to Amorim? Or will his struggles continue to overshadow his undeniable talent?
And United plan to make a bid for a new striker during the January transfer window.
Italian reports suggest that Amorim and the club’s management are pondering an offer for Juventus' 103-goal ace Vlahovic during the upcoming January transfer season.
Financial pressures on the Bianconeri, coupled with the fact that Vlahovic’s contract will expire in less than two years, might force them to consider the proposed deal from United.
Despite Arsenal's interest in the Serbian striker, United aims to outsmart their rivals with a firm offer of their own.
