Marcus Rashford could be at the heart of a sensational swap deal involving Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The £60 million-rated Manchester United forward has already turned down three lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia—worth up to £675,000 per week—as he focuses on regaining his England spot.
A move to a top European club would provide Rashford with the platform he needs, and Napoli, managed by former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, is reportedly interested in the disillusioned star.
Struggling United boss Rúben Amorim is eager to bolster his squad during the January transfer window, and Conte’s interest in Rashford, now 27, could pave the way for United to acquire Osimhen.
The Nigerian forward, who has a £62 million release clause, is currently on loan at Galatasaray but remains a key target for United.
The 26-year-old has proven his quality with 65 goals in 108 Serie A appearances for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020.
Amorim is also keen on reuniting with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres, but a prior agreement prevents him from signing players from his former club until at least the summer.

Rashford’s Struggles Under Amorim

Rashford has endured a difficult period under Amorim. The Portuguese manager dropped him from the squad citing concerns over his “standards,” including during the dramatic 2-1 victory over Manchester City in mid-December.
Since then, Rashford has missed five consecutive games, with United suffering three straight league defeats and sliding to 14th place in the table—a position that raises genuine relegation concerns.
Despite his current struggles, Rashford remains a valuable asset. Saudi clubs have offered to more than double his current £315,000-per-week salary, proposing a record-breaking deal worth £675,000 weekly, making him the highest-paid English player in history.
That would outstrip Harry Kane’s £400,000 per week at Bayern Munich by nearly 70%. However, Rashford has rejected these offers, prioritizing a return to international football under new England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Rashford, who has 60 England caps but hasn’t played for the national team since March, is said to be open to a "new challenge," though sources suggest he hasn’t ruled out staying at Old Trafford, where he’s contracted until 2028.

Financial Implications for United

Selling Rashford could provide Manchester United with a much-needed financial boost as they navigate Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Offloading the academy graduate would free up significant funds for Amorim to reshape the squad.
United had previously expressed interest in Osimhen last summer, but moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia fell through, resulting in the striker being loaned out to Galatasaray.
Conte has since frozen Osimhen out of Napoli’s plans, creating an opportunity for United to swoop in.

Other Developments

Napoli, currently second in Serie A, boast former United players Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay in their ranks.
Rashford could be enticed by the prospect of reuniting with his former teammates in Italy.
Meanwhile, SunSport reports that Rashford has engaged with sports agency Stellar to explore transfer options.
They are expected to collaborate with his brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, to secure a move this month.
European clubs, however, remain cautious. Bayern Munich have already turned down the opportunity to sign Rashford, while Juventus were discouraged by his high wages, instead shifting their focus to United striker Joshua Zirkzee, whom they are pursuing on loan.
For now, Rashford’s future remains uncertain, but the potential swap with Osimhen could mark a turning point for both him and Manchester United in this tumultuous season.
