Manchester United are making a strong push to sign FC Porto’s rising star Rodrigo Mora, whom club officials believe is "destined to become a leading player in world football."
He’s not the only Portuguese talent on United’s radar, as the club continues to revamp its recruitment strategy under the INEOS-led regime.
United have significantly shifted their transfer approach, focusing on young, high-potential signings.
Last summer, all first-team arrivals were 26 or younger, and their only major signing in the winter window, Patrick Dorgu, is just 20.
The club has also strengthened its academy, securing promising talents like Chido Obi-Martin, Sekou Kone, Diego Leon, and Ayden Heaven.
Now, according to CaughtOffside, United and Arsenal are showing the "strongest interest" in Porto’s 17-year-old attacking midfielder Rodrigo Mora.
Despite his young age, Mora is already a regular for Porto, contributing three goals and three assists in 12 league appearances this season.
He has also attracted attention from Real Madrid, PSG, and Aston Villa, but United and Arsenal currently lead the race for his signature.
If United secure his signing, he could eventually slot into one of the two No. 10 roles behind the striker in Ruben Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 system.
United scouts have filed glowing reports on Mora, and club insiders are reportedly "already convinced" he has the potential to become a world-class player.
His contract includes a £55m release clause, though it remains unclear whether United will attempt to negotiate a lower fee.
Mora isn’t the only Portuguese prodigy United are targeting. According to A Bola, the club has already moved to reunite Amorim with Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old, currently a regular starter at Sporting CP, played primarily as a right wing-back during Amorim’s final months in Lisbon.
A Bola claims that United have already secured his signing for the summer, stating: "Manchester United have already grabbed Quenda" and "a transfer is assured for the 2025/26 season."
With United prioritizing young, high-upside signings, the potential additions of Mora and Quenda would align with the club’s long-term vision under Amorim and INEOS.
