Michael Carrick has given his team news on
Matthijs de Ligt, Mason Mount and
Patrick Dorgu ahead of the Everton game.
United face Everton in the Premier League on Monday, their first match since the draw with West Ham on February 10.
The 13-day break has given midfielder Mount a possibility of being fit following an unspecified knock.
He has not featured since the derby win over Manchester City in Carrick’s first game, and
Carrick said on Friday: “We have been patient with him.
“We don’t want to push anything. He’s an important part of the group, and we want him back and fit, and he’ll have a big impact for us. So he’s getting closer.”
Carrick said De Ligt was a “little bit behind” Mount in his recovery from a back problem.
While Dorgu remains sidelined by a hamstring injury sustained in the win over Arsenal.
On De Ligt, Carrick said: “Matta, a little bit working towards it, but as I said last week, he's a little bit behind Mason, really, so we're just trying to work with him, to progress him, to get him a bit closer.”
They face an Everton team who have also gone almost a fortnight without a game, since their 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth on 10 February.
For United the game will be an opportunity to see what progress the team has made under Carrick, with an extended period of time where the coaching staff can work with the players.
And before Christmas the home defeat to Everton was one of the lowest points in the Ruben Amorim era where the visitors had a player sent off but United couldn't take advantage and ended up losing the game.
But now United go into the game so far unbeaten against Carrick with four wins and a draw so far.
