Senne Lammens tells how he was able to show his own strengths in Manchester United's victory over Everton.
Benjamin Sesko's second half strike was enough to secure a fifth win in six matches and move United into fourth, only three points behind Aston Villa.
But it was the rearguard action that was crucial for setting up the win, as the defence dug in and Lammens responded when called upon with some smart saves.
Lammens said afterwards that while he feels the victory over Manchester City was their best performance so far, the win over Everton was more important.
"I don't know about my teammates, I can speak personally that they are probably the best wins, especially for a goalkeeper," he said.
"For example against Man City I think we played our best game of the season, which feels amazing that we were able to play like that, but (against Everton) was more hard fought, not always the prettiest but they are the most important games."
And he emphasised his best attributes which came to the fore. "Physicality, set pieces, they are really my strengths so I take pride in that," Lammens added.
And looking back at the game he admitted United were not at their best.
"Our overall feeling is that we are really happy with the win, we had to fight for it, it wasn't always pretty," he said.
"We know we can play better than that but still when you can defend like that as a team and you can score a goal at the end, it is a really good feeling.
"I think as a goalkeeper you have to understand all games are different, I was needed a lot to help the team, especially as I said we had more difficulties.
"But that is where I take pride in helping us with the set-pieces, making saves. In this team I feel if some players are not at their best then other players step up and help and I think they did a good job, I am happy to help the team."
