Harry Maguire was sent off as well as Manchester United conceding a penalty in a 2-2 draw away to Bournemouth.
United continue in third place in the table and well-placed for a Champions League place but they headed back to Old Trafford frustrated.
United went ahead through a penalty from Bruno Fernandes after Matheus Cunha was hauled down in the box and then Amad Diallo was pulled back but a spot-kick wasn't given.
Ryan Christie quickly equalised before the Reds restored their lead from a Bournemouth own goal from a corner.
And then there was further controversy with Harry Maguire sent off for pulling back Evanilson and Junior Kroupi scored the penalty.
Michael Carrick and club captain Bruno Fernandes both spoke afterwards about their frustration with the decisions on the penalties. Both felt that Amad's and Maguire's penalty claims were very similar and so if one was given then so should the other.
Afterwards Maguire took to social media where he felt the decision made against him where Evanilson went down in the box was "so soft" and he added that that is where football is at the moment.
He also admitted to fans that he "should know better".
Maguire wrote on Instagram: "So soft but that’s where football is at atm and I should know better. You would think both decisions would reach the same outcome. We will be back after the break. Safe travel home reds , your support has been unbelievable."
Carrick said after the game: "We had the chances to be further ahead, we got the goal, we should have had another penalty, if you get one you should get the other it's as simple as that.
"They were pretty much identical, two hand grabs, either way he's got one wrong but to give one and not the other, I just can't get my head around that, I think it's crazy and because of that they go to the other end and score and then it is chaos after that."
