Alejandro Garnacho has sent Manchester United a cryptic message on social media.
Tensions between Garnacho and manager Ruben Amorim have reached boiling point. The flashpoint came during United’s Europa League final triumph over Tottenham in May 2025, where Garnacho’s limited role left him fuming.
Amorim’s no-nonsense approach has clashed with Garnacho’s fiery personality, and now United are ready to cash in, slashing his valuation from £70 million to a cut-price £40 million to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
Chelsea, chasing attacking dynamism for their Champions League push, see Garnacho as a perfect fit. The Blues are reportedly confident, with sources claiming the winger is “excited” about a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, their pursuit hinges on offloading fringe players like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu, Armando Broja, and Carney Chukwuemeka, with Everton and Burnley circling.
Garnacho’s 11 goals and 10 assists last season prove his potential, but his attitude—evidenced by a controversial social media post in an Aston Villa shirt—has raised eyebrows among United fans and could worry Chelsea’s hierarchy.
For United, losing Garnacho would free up funds for Amorim’s rebuild, but it’s a bitter pill for fans who saw him as the future.
Amorim has officially designated Alejandro Garnacho as part of a four‑player “Bomb Squad,” alongside Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia. Since being excluded from the US pre‑season tour, this group has been training separately at Carrington on a different schedule from the first team.
Garnacho appears to have responded to Amorim with a rather cryptic message on social media. The Chelsea target posted a picture of himself holding his shirt to his Instagram story.
Earlier this month, Amorim provided an update on Garnacho. The United boss described the Blues target as a 'talented boy', who wants 'a different thing with a different leadership'.
"I think Garnacho, you can understand and you can see, he's talented, he's a really talented boy," said the 40-year-old. "And sometimes things don't work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is.
"But I have the feeling, I think it's clear that Garnacho wants a different thing with a different leadership. And I can understand that. So I think it's not a problem.
"Sometimes you adapt to one guy, you have the connection. Other times, you want a new challenge. So, we try to make everything okay to all the parts. To the club, to the coach and to the players. So, it's a natural thing in football."
