A former Manchester United coach under Alex Ferguson breaks down how they fell apart against Brighton and says why the squad "is not good enough".
René Meulensteen, who was a successful first team coach from 2007 to 2013, having also worked in the youth and reserves at United, claims Brighton out thought Darren Fletcher's side in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat on Sunday.
"I thought a cup game at home you have to stay in the FA Cup it is a special trophy, home advantage and I thought three minutes it was going to be a tough, tough day for Brighton," said Meulensteen, who pointed out that United started the better.
"It could have been 2-0 or 2-0 after a few minutes, they carved them open, the runs in behind and they let themselves down every single time in front of goal, Dalot, Sesko a few times, dwelling on the ball not making the right decisions, the final ball.
"I thought that it was going to be a tough day for Brighton and then for whatever reason Brighton settled. I don't know whether you picked it up on it but Darren (Fletcher) set them up to press high and Brighton expected that and they went long after one or two passes they went straight to Danny Welbeck.
"He set up the player that supported from behind and suddenly it was four against three and I thought 'Whoa, you know'.
"Brighton made a lot of changes but they kept playing the same way, they've been drilled very well, they know their jobs. Don't matter, home or away, we play this way. And then Danny Welbeck was outstanding."
Looking at the squad Meulensteen believes it is not good enough to compete for trophies.
He continues: "Man Utd have quite a few players in the squad, in my opinion, that are not good enough for Man United.
"They concede too many goals. They concede by far too many goals, so defensively they're not solid. And every team they look at that, they analyse that. And every team that has the quality, but also the courage, let's have a go at them. You're gonna create things. I honestly do.
"I also do think if you look at the top top teams, look at Arsenal, got a really good goalkeeper, Liverpool, good goalkeeper, City, good goalkeeper United - it's not good enough. The goalkeepers are not good enough (...) This Lammens boy has potential to be a really good goalkeeper, I don't think at this moment in time he's ready."
