Ruben Amorim has told what
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo bring to the Manchester United attack and how Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund must improve.
Marcus Rashford has sealed a loan move to Barcelona and it will be a new look United side next season.
Amorim is optimistic about his squad’s potential, emphasizing a careful approach to recruitment while expressing confidence in his current options.
Amorim stated, “At the moment, we need to be really careful when we sign a player. If we have to start the season with this squad, then I'm happy because all the players want to be here. That is the most important thing.”
The additions of Cunha, formerly of Wolves, and Mbeumo, from Brentford, have bolstered United’s attacking depth. “With Bryan and Matheus, we are clearly a better team,” Amorim declared, highlighting their versatility to play as strikers alongside existing forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund.
The manager
emphasized improving synergy in attack: “They (Mbeumo/Cunha) can play as a striker. We have Josh and Rasmus, the focus is to improve the connection between them.
"I don't know if the position is there for them. They have to work. They have other players fighting for that position.”
This suggests a competitive environment where Cunha’s flair and work rate, paired with Mbeumo’s pace and goal-scoring instinct, will challenge Zirkzee’s technical finesse and Højlund’s physical presence for starting roles.
Amorim also praised the new signings’ commitment: “I'm really pleased. They are really humble, that is really important, and they chose to be here. They had other options, Champions League options, they read everything people say about our club, but they chose to be here. That is a key point for me.”
This underscores the cultural fit Amorim values, ensuring players are fully invested in United’s project despite external noise.
With Rashford’s departure, United’s attack could feature Mbeumo on the right, Cunha or Zirkzee centrally, and Højlund or Garnacho (if retained) on the left, blending pace, creativity, and goal threat.
Amorim’s focus on connectivity and competition suggests a fluid, high-energy front line ready to elevate United’s Premier League campaign.
