Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has described new signing Benjamin Šeško as a player of “great potential” following the Slovenian striker’s high-profile move from RB Leipzig.
Šeško, 22, joins United in a deal worth €76.5 million plus a potential €8.5 million in bonuses, penning a contract until 2030. His signing completes a summer attacking overhaul that has also seen Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo arrive at Old Trafford.
Speaking at the striker’s official unveiling, Amorim praised Šeško’s blend of physical and technical qualities.
“Benjamin is a special profile,” said Amorim. “He has the size and presence to dominate in the box, but he also runs the channels, presses intelligently, and links play. For his age, his mentality is excellent. He wants to learn, and he wants to work for the team. That is exactly the kind of player we want at Manchester United.”
Šeško scored 18 goals for Leipzig last season, earning a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.
Standing at 6ft 5in, his aerial ability and pace make him a versatile attacking threat—something Amorim believes will help him adapt quickly to Premier League football.
“The Premier League is very demanding physically, but Benjamin has the tools to succeed,” Amorim continued, reported Reuters. “We will help him settle, but I believe he can make an impact straight away. Our style of play will suit him.”
The striker’s arrival comes amid a busy summer of recruitment at Old Trafford, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe backing the manager with significant investment. United’s total attacking spend has surpassed £200 million as Amorim looks to build a side capable of challenging for silverware.
Šeško himself expressed excitement at the move, describing United as “one of the biggest clubs in the world” and stating his ambition to “score goals and win trophies” for the fans.
United open their Premier League campaign at home to Arsenal on August 17, where Šeško could make his competitive debut. Amorim, for one, is confident his new forward can rise to the occasion.
“He’s here for the long term,” the Portuguese coach concluded. “We believe he can be one of the best strikers in the world—and Manchester United is the place for him to achieve that.”
