Shea Lacey will be looking to seize his chance to impress Michael Carrick and stake a claim in the Manchester United first team against Wrexham.
The 19-year-old was knocking on the door last season after continuing to impress with his deadly left-foot in the Academy.
He was brought on the for the final Premier League game away to Brighton where the Reds ran out 3-0 winners.
Lacey appears to have a huge future ahead of him and he along with other youth players will be looking to catch the eye of Carrick during preseason training, with many first-teamers still away having taken part in the World Cup.
He will be an option on the wings although he faces competition from Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo who are already available for Carrick after their countries missed out on the World Cup.
The involvement of 13 United players at the World Cup means that there are more potential openings than normal.
United are preparing for the preseason trip to Finland for the clash with Championship side Wrexham on Saturday 18 July.
Another player looking to get a chance is Jack Fletcher, whose twin brother Tyler was a late call-up to the Scotland squad for the World Cup.
He was on the bench for the 0-0 draw at Sunderland in May and made three substitute appearances at the end of 2025.
Harry Amass had a loan spell at Norwich City cruelly curtailed by injury, after performing really well for Sheffield Wednesday in the first part of the campaign.
The full-back is fit again and looking to get a good pre-season under his belt.
While another loanee Toby Collyer missed out on Hull City's promotion win via the play-offs, after being hurt in the game against Coventry City, and has been working with the United first team squad over the past few days.
Tyler Fredricson is another who is available again after an absence, with the centre-back last part of a matchday squad for the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth in March.
Meanwhile, Radek Vitek had a successful loan spell at Bristol City and, with Senne Lammens and Altay Bayindir still absent, he may get a run-out between the sticks.
Dermot Mee who, like Tom Heaton, has signed a new contract, has also been present in training, along with Elyh Harrison.
The first pre-season game against Wrexham is at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, and then they face Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadium in Trondheim.
Further ahead are matches against Atletico Madrid at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm, Sweden and Paris Saint-Germain at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg.
Then they face Leeds United at Croke Park in Dublin, and AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland.
