Man Utd sign 'fast and direct' winger Konde in raid from Liverpool

Manchester United have completed the signing of highly-rated Liverpool youngster Isaac Konde who offers 'pace and directness' in attack.

United confirmed the move bringing an end to the wait over 16-year-old Konde's switch from Anfield to Old Trafford.

Konde had emerged as one of the promising young players in Liverpool's academy and made his first appearances at Under-18 level towards the end of the 2025/26 campaign. He featured six times for Liverpool's U18s last season, including two starts.

The teenager is regarded as a versatile attacking player who can operate on either flank or through the middle, with his pace and close control among the qualities that have attracted attention.

A coach familiar with Konde's development described him as a "fast, direct and very exciting prospect", while comparisons have also been made with former Manchester United wingers Nani and Wilfried Zaha.

United's official announcement was brief, but the arrival represents another significant addition to Darren Fletcher's Under-18 squad.

Konde is expected to initially link up with Fletcher's side as he continues his development, with United hoping he can follow the pathway from academy football towards the U21s and eventually the senior team.

The signing also continues an increasingly busy period of recruitment for United's academy. The club have already brought in midfielders Karim Cassim and David Eze from Manchester City, with Konde now becoming the latest youngster to arrive from a Premier League rival.

For Liverpool, the move means losing a player who had progressed through their academy and was beginning to establish himself at U18 level.

Konde's move is also understood to involve compensation for Liverpool as his former academy club, with reports suggesting the two clubs have been discussing the figure.

United, meanwhile, have secured another young attacking talent with plenty of time to develop.

And with Konde now heading into the next stage of his career at Carrington, the focus will turn to how quickly the teenager can make his mark in Fletcher's highly competitive U18 squad.
