Manchester United are set to make a key decision on
Marcus Rashford as he rules out move to Fenerbahce.
The striker has no intentions of moving to the Turkish league and there are no negotiations taking place with Fenerbahce as Rashford is focused on playing for a team in one of Europe's top leagues.
That leaves the 28-year-old facing with an uncertain future and crucially for
United he still has two years left on his current contract.
Rashford is due to return to Carrington for pre-season in the coming weeks following the loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona and it is there that a decision will be made on what to do with him.
Michael Carrick is expected to assess the forward during pre-season, with United believed to favour a permanent transfer if a suitable offer arrives.
But if that doesn't happen then it would likely mean he would be another attacking option for United next season.
Barcelona had appeared to be Rashford's preferred destination after he worked hard in Spain, where he scored 14 goals but he never convinced on the pitch.
Te Catalan club opted against activating their purchase option and instead strengthened their attack with Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
With Barcelona out of the running and a move to Fenerbahce off the table, Rashford's options have become increasingly limited.
One of the biggest stumbling blocks remains his contract. The United academy graduate is reportedly earning in excess of £325,000 per week and with two years remaining on his deal it makes a permanent transfer difficult for all but a handful of clubs.
The situation has left both player and club in limbo. United are keen to reduce their wage bill and raise funds for further summer signings, while Rashford only wants to join a top club.
It is also hampering United's transfer strategy as they are keen on West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, but any move is likely to depend on Rashford's future being resolved first.
During the World Cup Rashford told press: "I was very clear… I wanted any move done before the World Cup. If it's not, I wanted it to wait until after. I want to be fully present in the moment."
But now with England out of the World Cup it is crunch time, Rashford has the talent but will United give him a second chance after he eased off in his last few seasons and didn't show the commitment needed to succeed.
Maybe he has matured and it was clear in Barcelona that he was willing to graft for the team even if it didn't work out for him.
