Manuel Ugarte delivered a clear message to fans after Manchester United’s "hard-fought battle" against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Red Devils secured a valuable Premier League point in their first match of 2025 and came close to taking all three points.
Manuel Ugarte returned to United’s starting XI after missing the 2-0 Premier League defeat against Newcastle at Old Trafford in December 2024 due to suspension.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder delivered a key performance which may not capture the headlines but he was able to break up Liverpool's play and also get the ball moving United.
And Ugarte sent a strong message to United fans following his display at Anfield. “Hard-fought battle at Anfield,” he wrote on Instagram.“Great effort from everyone. Let’s keep pushing with humility.”
Bruno Fernandes’ Instagram account was spotted in the comments of Ugarte’s post, and the United captain made his thoughts clear about the midfielder’s performance.
The 30-year-old Portuguese star reacted to the post with the message “impressionante,” which translates to “impressive” in English.
Ruben Amorim’s men and Arne Slot’s side reached halftime with the score at 0-0, before United stunned Liverpool in the second half by taking the lead.
Fernandes set up Lisandro Martínez, who fired a stunning shot past Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson in the 52nd minute.
Liverpool responded seven minutes later when Cody Gakpo leveled the score. The Reds were later awarded a penalty, and Mohamed Salah put Liverpool ahead in the 70th minute, beating André Onana from the spot in a thrilling Premier League clash.
Amad Diallo scored in the 80th minute to equalize, allowing United to leave Anfield with a point after the 2-2 draw. Manchester United is currently 13th in the Premier League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone amid their recent run of form.
Before their draw against the league leaders, the Red Devils had lost four consecutive matches across all competitions under Ruben Amorim.
