Marcus Rashford has suggested there was "negative pressure" at
Manchester United and he isn't "motivated" at a club without the highest demands.
The United youth product was frozen out by
Ruben Amorim last season and moved in the summer to Barcelona in a loan deal with the option for Barcelona to make it permanent.
He has shown a willingness to work hard at Camp Nou where he is not an automatic starter and has adapted well on and off the pitch.
But many fans at United will still feel that he had begun to take his place for granted at Old Trafford and was not giving his all on the pitch.
He now says on staying at Barca: “Of course, what I want. That is the end goal but it is not the reason why I am training hard every day and giving the best of myself. The real purpose is to win. Barça is a huge, fantastic club, one that is built to win titles.
"There is pressure here, of course, but it is not a negative kind of pressure. It is the type of pressure you want as a player — the pressure I want and have always wanted throughout my career as a footballer.
"I cannot be in a place where you are not pushed to achieve important objectives. For me, it is much more difficult to stay motivated and give my best at a club where the demands are not at the highest level.
"I believe I am in the right place and in the perfect environment to continue my journey as a footballer. That is why I simply try to give my best every single day and help the team to win. What happens next summer, we will see.”
Rashford says he wants to help Barca continue to win trophies and he is enjoying the environment at the club.
“I am adapting very well to both the club and the city. From the very moment I arrived, I felt that everyone welcomed me in a very positive way," he said.
"For me, the reason I am here is to help the team win trophies. Last season they had a fantastic season, but in football like life everything moves very quickly — things change — and the objective now is to repeat those successes.
"I am completely focused on that. Everything has been excellent with the coaching staff and my teammates; the environment has been fantastic and I have absolutely no complaints.”
