Manchester United could make a swap deal involving
Rasmus Hojlund, with a prolific European striker heading to Old Trafford in exchange.
Hojlund, 22, arrived at
United from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 for a fee that could rise to £72m with add-ons. The Denmark international has shown flashes of quality but has struggled for consistency, scoring just 18 goals in 52 Premier League appearances.
He grabbed a goal against Leicester last Sunday to end a lengthy goal drought which will boost his confidence but he will need to do a lot more to convince critics.
His form has been a topic of debate, with new manager Ruben Amorim yet to fully unlock the young forward’s potential. Despite this, Hojlund remains a highly-rated talent, and United are unlikely to give up on him easily.
However, a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests that Paris Saint-Germain could tempt United with an audacious proposal. The Ligue 1 giants are said to be considering offering their star striker, Goncalo Ramos, to United in exchange for Hojlund.
Ramos, a 23-year-old Portugal international, has been in scintillating form since joining PSG from Benfica in 2023. He has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.
The report claims PSG see Hojlund as a long-term investment and a potential successor to Ramos, who could be tempted by a move to the Premier League. United, meanwhile, would gain an immediate upgrade in firepower with Ramos, who appears better suited to Amorim’s high-pressing system.
While the swap deal remains speculative at this stage, it would represent a bold move by both clubs. United fans will hope Amorim can get the best out of Hojlund in the coming months, but the allure of a proven goalscorer like Ramos could be hard to resist."
