Paul Pogba has dropped a fresh hint about his future amid whispers of a sensational third stint at
Manchester United, insisting he’s raring to get back on the pitch.
The 32-year-old midfielder, now a free agent after parting ways with Juventus, has been linked with a return to
Old Trafford—but not everyone’s convinced it’s the right move.
Pogba’s Juventus contract was mutually terminated in November 2024 after an 18-month doping ban, reduced from an initial four years, ended earlier this month. With his footballing exile behind him, the World Cup winner is among the hottest free agents around, eyeing a comeback before the 2025/26 season kicks off.
This week, he took to Instagram with a training clip from Miami, showing off his skills and stamina. “So we’re here in Miami, training, trying to get fit as soon as possible—you already know the story,” he said, grinning at the camera. “I’m here, and there are some fans around—United fans, Barcelona fans. Big up to them. This guy [a Barcelona fan] tried to challenge me!”
The video’s sparked a frenzy, with fans and pundits speculating about a United reunion. Pogba spent six years at the club from 2016 to 2022, having returned from Juventus for a then-record £89million, but his spell was a rollercoaster of highs—like the 2017 Europa League triumph—and lows, including fan frustration over inconsistent form.
Now, with United struggling under Ruben Amorim—13th in the Premier League after 29 games—some supporters see Pogba as a low-cost fix for a midfield lacking spark.
But ex-England star Chris Waddle isn’t sold. Speaking to 10bet, he argued Pogba’s better off elsewhere. “It’s tricky—he’s never really cracked it in England, has he? He shone at Juventus, and I reckon that Italian style suits him more,” Waddle said.
“France could work too, but United? I don’t see it. Amorim’s after runners for his 3-4-3, not flair players like Paul.” Waddle’s verdict aligns with United’s new recruitment ethos under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which prioritizes grit over glamour after years of pricey flops.
Pogba’s options aren’t limited to Manchester. Major League Soccer’s a growing rumor, with his Miami base and frequent MLS game appearances—like LAFC’s clash with Austin last week—fanning the flames.
The Saudi Pro League’s also in the mix, offering cash to match his £290,000-a-week peak United wages. Wherever he lands, Pogba’s clear: he’s itching to play. “I just want to show I’m still a footballer,” he told L’Equipe last year. “A new Paul Pogba, same qualities.”
United fans on X are split. “Pogba back? Imagine the vibes!” one posted, while another countered, “No thanks—been there, done that. We need fresh blood.” For now, Pogba’s keeping his cards close, training hard and letting the rumor mill churn. Stay tuned—this saga’s far from over.
