Man Utd transfer latest: Moves made for Delap, Tah, Araujo but how close are deals?

Manchester United fans have reason to celebrate after Ruben Amorim’s side powered into the Europa League final, overcoming Athletic Bilbao with a convincing 4-1 win in the semi-final second leg.

Goals from Mason Mount (who scored twice), Casemiro, and Rasmus Hojlund secured a 7-1 aggregate victory, setting up a showdown with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on May 21.

A win would not only mark United’s third consecutive season with a trophy and Amorim’s first silverware at Old Trafford, but also guarantee Champions League qualification and a near-£100million financial boost.

United are planning to strengthen their squad in the summer, with a striker and a central defender high on the agenda, it is reported.

Liam Delap, currently at Ipswich Town, is United’s top striker target. The 22-year-old England under-21 international has a £30million release clause in his contract, activated by Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League.

However, the transfer may take time, as United face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City, and are waiting for Delap’s decision before moving forward.

Manchester United have also entered the race for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, who will become a free agent when his contract expires on July 1.

The 29-year-old Germany international has attracted interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, but United are described as “serious competitors” for his signature as they look to reinforce their defence.

Barcelona are reportedly willing to listen to offers for vice-captain Ronald Araujo after their Champions League exit.

The 26-year-old Uruguayan, who can play centre-back or right-back, is available for around €50m (£42m), according to Fichajes.

United have previously been linked with Araujo and are seeking defensive reinforcements, especially with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans out of contract next month.
