Marcus Rashford’s long Manchester United career is set to come to an end this summer, with the club and player both resolved to part ways and here are his most likely destinations.
Rashford, who joined United as a seven-year-old and made 17 appearances for Villa last season (scoring four goals and providing six assists), has made it clear that he wants a fresh challenge abroad, with Barcelona his “dream” destination.
United have made it clear there is no way back for Rashford at Old Trafford, especially with the signings of Matheus Cunha and the pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo signalling a new direction in attack.
Rashford’s preference is a permanent move to Barcelona, and he is reportedly willing to make significant sacrifices on wages and playing time to secure the switch, even though he currently earns a base wage of £225,000 per week.
However, Barcelona’s transfer priorities complicate matters: Nico Williams and Luis Diaz are higher on their list, but both come with higher price tags, making Rashford a more financially accessible option if other deals fall through.
United are holding firm on their valuation, seeking around £34-40 million for Rashford, and are only interested in a permanent sale rather than a loan, reported The Mirror.
Barcelona, for their part, have explored the possibility of a swap deal, with United reportedly asking for a player in return—most notably centre-back Ronald Araujo—though his willingness to move to Manchester is uncertain.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s option to buy Rashford is complicated by financial constraints and his high wages, while Rashford himself is reluctant to join another Premier League side, especially in London.
Interest from Serie A is growing, with Napoli, AC Milan, and Como all monitoring his situation as they look to strengthen their attacks.
Newcastle have also emerged as a surprise suitor, reportedly interested in a loan deal, but United remain adamant that only a permanent transfer will be sanctioned.
As the summer window progresses, Rashford’s camp is focused on securing a move that matches his ambitions, with Barcelona still the preferred destination if the financial and sporting conditions can be met.
United, meanwhile, are determined to use the funds from his sale to accelerate their squad overhaul under INEOS and Ruben Amorim
