Manchester United travel to face Fulham this Sunday looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat against Arsenal, with manager
Rúben Amorim facing key selection calls.
The Portuguese coach was encouraged by elements of his side’s performance at the Emirates, but he knows points are needed quickly if
United are to avoid early pressure in the Premier League campaign.
The biggest question surrounds the goalkeeper position. Altay Bayindir played against Arsenal and made a big mistake for the only goal while Andre Onana was dropped.
Amorim admitted the decision was still open over who will face Fulham. “Onana is ready to play like last week, so we will see who is going to be keeper,” he said.
At the back, Lisandro Martínez and Noussair Mazraoui remain unavailable and they are the only two players who are out injured. But Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw did well against the Arsenal attack in defence.
Casemiro is looking fitter had a strong performance in midfield so he is likely to start again alongside Bruno Fernandes.
Further forward, new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha impressed despite the defeat to Arsenal, adding pace and unpredictability in attack.
Arguably United's biggest signing of the summer has been Benjamin Sesko who was on the bench against Arsenal and he may now get his full debut this weekend.
If he does, though, the question is who will be dropped with Mason Mount a possibility, but he had a steady game against Arsenal and is a favourite of Amorim.
Meanwhile, definitely on the sidelines are the wantaway players: Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony andTyrell Malacia.
Amorim has insisted the transfer speculation will not distract the squad, stressing that the club will not delay incoming deals while waiting on departures.
For now, all focus is on Fulham who drew their first game away to Brighton, reported

Cottagers vice-captain Antonee Robinson missed the 1-1 draw at Brighton last Saturday, as he was still recovering from the minor knee surgery he underwent over the summer.
Robinson has been working with the team again at the club’s Motspur Park facility, and could be in contention to play on Sunday
Ryan Sessegnon, who is Robinson’s deputy at left-back, was the only other absentee at the Amex Stadium, after picking up a knock in the Londoners’ final pre-season friendly.
Calvin Bassey filled in on the left side of defence against the Seagulls, while Fulham’s only summer arrival – goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte – was an unused substitute.
“We are going to have another session [on Saturday], and we will take a decision on both Sessegnon and Robinson,” said Silva on Friday. “We didn't want to take the risk with Sess last week. Calvin did so well [at Brighton] - [Isaac] Cuenca can play there too…”
