Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund admitted the team needs to do better and coach Ruben Amorim blamed a a bad start for the 3-2 defeat at home.
Fans were left disappointed with the performance only a week after United beat Everton and there were plenty of positive signs.
A loss away to Arsenal on Wednesday was a set-back especially at the way the goals were conceded but at least it was against a time looking to win the title. This time United played at home against a Forest side they were expected to beat.
The game’s outcome raises questions about Amorim's strategies, especially the performance of goalie Andre Onana, whose errors led to the collapse of United's defence.
Despite an early goal from Nikola Milenkovic and an equaliser by Hojlund, United were unable to keep up with Forest's offensive prowess. Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood both managed to find the back of the net, with Onana failing to stop their attempts.

Players’ performances

Among the players, Bruno Fernandes stood out with a fine effort from 15 yards out, giving the hosts a glimmer of hope. Despite this, United’s efforts weren’t enough to avoid defeat.
Onana, named as one of United’s best players this season, made decisive errors contributing to the loss. His performance left a lot to be desired, culminating in goals from Gibbs-White and Wood.
Other United players like Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt didn’t fare much better, both getting hooked by Amorim after 65 minutes due to subpar performances.
Amorim’s double substitution, however, didn’t change the tide of the game. The match ended with Forest in the lead, dismaying United fans and leaving the team to assess their strategies for future matches.
Hojlund, called for a better collective performance following a disappointing loss - the second in less than 72 hours.
United's hope of rescuing a point was kindled when Fernandes scored seven minutes after Forest's third goal. Nevertheless, individual mistakes proved costly.
Hojlund, however, was quick to state that the blame doesn't rest on individuals alone. In a post-match interview with MUTV, Hojlund expressed his frustration.
"We need to do better, all of us. It is not just down to individuals, we all need to do better and today could have been much, much better," he said. Highlighting how early goals in both halves dampened the team's momentum and confidence, Hojlund insisted that the team needed to do more in their home ground.
While Amorim voiced his dissatisfaction with the squad's start to the game. He described it as 'really bad', particularly highlighting the early goal they conceded. "Tough game. We started really bad, the first play we suffered a goal and then it's hard to try to fight. We then controlled the game and had a lot of situations," he said.
