Manchester United have constantly been linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres but Ruben Amorim might lose out on a reunion with his former star.
As per A Bola, Gyokeres would prefer a transfer to the Red Devils’ Premier League rivals Liverpool, Arsenal or Manchester City, with it being 'inevitable' he leaves the Portuguese giants this coming summer.
City look unlikely to make a move, with Erling Haaland already at the club, while they also signed Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush in January.
Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas has already spoken out on Gyokeres’ future and refused to confirm whether he could leave in the summer.
Gyokeres, 26, has enjoyed some stunning form for Sporting having netted 82 goals in 90 appearances since signing from Coventry.
That form has seen him heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Amorim keen on a reunion with the Swede, having previously worked together in Portugal. But Amorim may now miss out, with Gyokeres preferring a move to one of United’s rivals.
For Arsenal, they are in desperate need of a prolific forward, with Mikel Arteta keen to add a new No.9 to his squad after another failed title bid. The Gunners have scored the second fewest goals of any side in the top eight, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus struggling to find the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also in the market for a new forward, with Arne Slot keen to plan for life after Mo Salah. The Egyptian’s contract is up in the summer and though the Reds are keen to extend his deal, they are also planning for his potential exit.
That has seen them linked with Gyokeres, who could form a deadly partnership with the likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz and Federico Chiesa.
