Alejandro Garnacho was "upset" with Ruben Amorim after being left out of squad, admits the Manchester United manager.
The young Argentine winger, who had been a key player for the Red Devils, was left out, along with Marcus Rashford, for the game against Manchester City.
Garnacho trained with the team on Monday and seemed to have a positive attitude, but it's clear that he is seeking answers from Amorim.
And for the manager he is happy with the response as it shows that he is eager to play. Amorim said that Garnacho trained on Monday with enthusiasm.
"He seems a little bit upset with me and that's perfect," Amorim said. "I was really really happy because I would do the same."
While Garnacho's omission raised eyebrows, Amorim insisted that his decision was based on performance and attitude.
The Portuguese manager has implemented a strict regime at Old Trafford, demanding high standards from his players.
"I expect the best of each player every day so we will see after training," Amorim said. "We have one more training, but it's the same situation as the other players. If they train well, then I have to make a choice."
Garnacho has been included in the squad to face Tottenham tonight but Rashford, who the club said missed training on Monday due to illness, is again missing.
Rashford's future at the club remains uncertain. The England forward has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and his recent omission from the squad has only fueled speculation.
As United prepare for their Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham Hotspur, it remains to be seen whether Garnacho will play
Meanwhile, United team news and line-ups have leaked sporadically for several years and Amorim clarified he has no intention of taking new measures to try and stop it.
"Nothing. Nowadays, all of the coaches know about it. I explained a lot about the team, how I want us to play, the positions etc," he said.
"I say that because I understand that the coaches have that information just to see one time how Manchester United play, so I’m not really worried about that.
"I also cannot control that so I’ll do the same things, and prepare the same way.
"For me, it’s more important for my players to go to a game with a clear idea of how to do it than try to hide something to protect the leaking of the starting XI. That’s not my focus, I’m not really worried about that."
