Man Utd's Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes is a fundamental playmaker for Manchester United but here is what we know about a bumper deal from Galatasaray.
United have opened talks with Fernandes over extending his current deal, with the Portugal international entering the final year of his contract. The club also hold an option to extend his agreement by another season.
But Fernandes is understood to have turned down the initial proposal, creating some uncertainty over his long-term future.
That has given Galatasaray encouragement wiith the Turkish champions interested in the 31-year-old and they are prepared to offer him a lucrative contract.
A transfer fee in the region of £42million has been reported, although there has been no formal bid for the midfielder.
Despite the interest, Fernandes does not want to leave United.

Fernandes wants to stay at Old Trafford

Fernandes has repeatedly made it clear that his ambition is to succeed at United rather than seek a move elsewhere.
Earlier this summer, he revealed that he had opportunities to leave the club but chose to stay because he wants to achieve something significant at Old Trafford.
He has also previously rejected a huge offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, reportedly worth around £700,000 a week, to remain at United.
His latest decision to reject a contract offer therefore appears to be about the terms of the proposed deal rather than a desire to leave.
Fernandes wants to stay – but he also wants United to recognise his importance to the club.

United do not want to sell their captain

United's position is equally clear. The club do not want Fernandes to leave and are prepared to reject approaches for their captain during the final weeks of the transfer window.
A previous overseas release clause in Fernandes' contract, reportedly worth around £56-57million, has also expired, meaning any interested club would now have to negotiate directly with United.

Fernandes remains key to Utd project

There is little doubt that Fernandes remains central to United's plans.
The midfielder was instrumental in the club's successful campaign last season and finished with a Premier League-record 21 assists.
With United returning to the Champions League, losing their captain and primary creative force would represent a huge blow.
But at the same time Fernandes has always made clear his desire to remain at United as long as he is wanted and it is likely that his rejection of an initial contract offer is just a bargaining stance over his salary.
