Sesko starts for Man Utd in attack with Mbeumo dropped and Mainoo injured

Benjamin Sesko has a major chance to impress for Manchester United against Leeds as he is picked instead of Bryan Mbeumo and Kobbie Mainoo misses out through injury.

It is a massive chance for Sesko to impress in the starting line-up having been used more often as an impact substitute by Michael Carrick.

Neither Mbeumo or Amad Diallo have been at their best since returning from the African Cup of Nations.

For Mainoo to miss out is a major blow for the 20-year-old who has been an ever present under Carrick this year having bounced back after being frozen out by Ruben Amorim.

But the midfielder’s run of games for his club comes to an end tonight, left out of the squad with Manuel Ugarte taking his place alongside Casemiro.

It is the final fixture of Premier League matchweek 32, and with United pushing hard for Champions League qualification while Leeds are fighting to avoid relegation.

It is 24 days since United last played — the 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on March 20 — and Carrick has used the extended break wisely, taking his squad to Dublin for a four-day training camp designed to sharpen the group and integrate returning players.

Harry Maguire, who last week signed a new one-year contract extension keeping him at Old Trafford until at least June 2027, received a red card at Bournemouth and is suspended for the game.

The good news is that Lisandro Martinez rejoined the squad in Dublin after missing the last five matches with a calf injury and he is ready to face Leeds.

The Argentine, nicknamed "The Butcher" by United fans, has been a important absence during his spell on the sidelines — he has made only 15 appearances across all competitions this season having been out until late November initially following knee surgery.

Also in defence Noussair Mazraoui plays ahead of Diogo Dalot who has been unwell while Shea Lacey is back among the substitutes for the first time since the 3-2 win over Fulham.
