Ayden Heaven tells of 'tip he is working on' from Man Utd player 'who has been big help'

Ayden Heaven tells of which Manchester United player has helped him a lot and always tells him "to speak" on the pitch.

The 19-year-old is one of the many youngsters at Old Trafford who is touted for a big future and he is slowly working his way into the first team.

He like fellow youth star JJ Gabriel realises the need to be "patient" and that the chances will come.

Heaven has been given opportunities during United's pre-season campaign, and he has looked assured alongside Harry Maguire.

Having Maguire alongside him has provided an important source of guidance as he continues to adapt to life at Old Trafford.

Heaven explained that Maguire is particularly keen to encourage him to become more vocal on the pitch.

"I love it, obviously. He helps me a lot. He's had over 20 years of experience playing. And yeah, he's always good to play with," Heaven said. "He speaks a lot and he always tells me to speak. I always work on that with him."

Last season he had to wait his chances on the bench but he is not getting frustrated and is confident that Michael Carrick believes in him.

"He's played a big part for this club when he played. So that's the extra boost that he's given you, to have a compliment. And yeah, we all really trust him. I'm thankful to have him as a coach," Heaven said of Carrick.

Asked about potentially nailing down a starting role, Heaven said: "I know I'm young, obviously, and I've got to be patient, you know, especially in my position. You don't see a lot of 19-year-olds playing week in, week out."

It is a recurring theme through the youth teams at United that the players believe there chance will come, unlike with many other Premier League clubs.

Gabriel was named in the squad for the last preseason game against Rosenborg and while he didn't get on for his first-team debut he said afterwards on social media: "patience."

There is also an increasingly important role for the senior players at United in helping the youngsters.

That was particularly evident in the victory over Rosenborg, when Mason Mount spoke about the responsibility experienced players have.

Mount has been seen regularly encouraging United's academy players and believes those coming through need the same support that he received earlier in his own career.

As for Gabriel, his debut is set to come sooner rather than later. He was named the Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season last term despite being just 14 when the campaign began, scoring 29 goals across the Under-18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup.

He then continued his progress with the Under-21s, scoring and assisting against Burnley in a friendly after missing out on senior minutes against Rosenborg.

United have made it clear they will not rush Gabriel's development, with Carrick previously stressing the importance of choosing the right moment for him to step up.

"JJ is a big talent, it's pretty obvious to know that and he's had a really good season for the Under-18s," Carrick said earlier this year.

"We obviously think an awful lot of him, but patience is important in managing everything that comes with that and working with him in development as we do with all the different younger players and picking the right moment to step up."
