Ruben Amorim has several injury concerns ahead of Manchester United's clash with Everton but he has some positive news about
Lisandro Martinez.Benjamin Sesko and
Harry Maguire are set to miss Monday's game while Kobbie Mainoo is a doubt. And while it appears that Martinez is not ready to begin against Everton, he may be ready to play a part.
“I think he’s almost ready to play. I don’t know if he’s going to be in this next game, but his spirit, his way of training, the way he pushed his team-mates and the way he plays the game is so important for us, but he needs to be careful," said Amorim.
"He has players in his position that are playing really well. That is my responsibility, that is my decision but I think he’s ready to start going to games.”
Meanwhile, Matheus Cunha missed a Christmas lights switch-on event in Altrincham after organisers revealed the forward suffered “an accident in training” on Saturday.
The 26-year-old has impressed since joining from Wolves in the summer and looked set to retain his starting role in the Red Devils’ return to Premier League action against Everton on Monday.
But a surprise source has sparked concern over Cunha’s availability after the Brazil international pulled out of Altrincham’s ‘Neon Noel’ Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday.
In a social media post, Visit Altrincham said: “Unfortunately Matheus Cunha has had an accident in training today and will not be able to attend tonight’s Christmas Lights Switch on in Altrincham due to medical reasons.”
And since it has been revealed that Cunha sustained a knock in training, which is considered a minor issue.
Looking ahead to the Everton match, the mood in the United camp is good, but Amorim is not expecting an easy opponent.
He told
ManUtd.com: “Great manager, great team. Then you need to forget the results. I watch every game Everton did and they lost some games where they deserved so much more, a bit like us. So it’s going to be a really tough match and we need to be ready for that and we will be.”
