Hat-trick hero Amad hailed the past week as "one of the best" of his life after his stunning treble secured Manchester United a dramatic 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton.
He said that the team needed to have "belief" which is what allowed them to grab three late goals at Old Trafford against the side which is bottom of the table.
United found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime after Manuel Ugarte’s unfortunate own goal. The team was not playing well with a lack of intensity and the defence was regularly being caught out while in attack they offered little.
But with just eight minutes of regular time remaining, Amad equalized, slotting home after his initial shot was blocked.
The former Sunderland loanee then completed the turnaround in the 90th minute, expertly finishing Christian Eriksen’s pinpoint pass to ignite jubilant celebrations at Old Trafford.
In stoppage time, Amad capitalized on a defensive error to complete his hat-trick and claim his first career treble—a perfect conclusion to a week in which he signed a new contract to stay at the club until 2030.
Reflecting on the achievement, the winger described the experience as unforgettable.
"Maybe one of the best weeks in my life," Amad told TNT Sports. "I am very happy for this win. This team deserved to win this game, so I am very happy."
Despite being second-best for much of the game, United stayed in contention thanks to several crucial saves from goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Amad emphasized the team’s unwavering belief in their ability to turn things around.
"In football, you have to believe," the Ivorian added. "We believed until the end and are very happy to win this game."
The victory not only showcased Amad’s growing influence but also underlined the resilience of a United side determined to find success despite adversity.
