Overview

Mateus Cunha has emerged as one of Manchester United’s most exciting attacking players, bringing flair, creativity, and relentless energy to Rúben Amorim’s squad. The Brazilian forward’s arrival has added a new dimension to United’s attack, blending South American skill with Premier League intensity.

A technically gifted and fearless attacker, Cunha’s ability to link play between midfield and the front line has quickly made him a fan favourite at Old Trafford. His versatility allows him to operate as a striker, second forward, or attacking midfielder — a perfect fit for Amorim’s fluid attacking system.

Career and Playing Style

Born in João Pessoa, Brazil, Cunha began his professional career in Europe with RB Leipzig before making a name for himself at Hertha Berlin and later at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Known for his creativity and dribbling, he developed a reputation as a forward who can both score and create — a dual threat that attracted Manchester United’s attention.

Cunha’s style combines sharp movement, clever positioning, and a natural flair for breaking defensive lines. His quick feet and ability to drive past opponents make him a constant danger in one-on-one situations, while his vision allows him to set up teammates in key moments.

Impact at Manchester United

Since joining United, Cunha has injected energy and unpredictability into the attack. His close control and link-up play with Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee have added creativity to United’s build-up, while his work rate off the ball has impressed manager Rúben Amorim.

Amorim has praised the Brazilian’s mentality and adaptability, saying Cunha “brings balance and belief to the front line,” noting how his ability to press and recover possession complements United’s high-intensity approach.

With his best years still ahead of him, Mateus Cunha looks set to become a cornerstone of Manchester United’s attacking future. His flair, determination, and understanding of Amorim’s philosophy position him as one of the key figures driving United’s return to the top of English and European football.
